Hong Kong-based A1 Plastics has officially broken ground on a $29-million Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) recycling facility in Pursat’s Krakor Special Economic Zone. Presided over by H.E. Keo Rottanak, Minister of Mines and Energy, this investment marks a critical milestone in Cambodia’s “Green Industrial Revolution.” By converting plastic waste into high-value manufacturing resources, the project aligns with the Royal Government’s Circular Economy objectives and its commitment to creating “Green Jobs” under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.

The new facility in the Krakor SEZ is not just a factory; it is a vital organ in Cambodia’s emerging sustainable infrastructure.

Advanced Recycling: The plant will process post-consumer PET plastics, transforming waste into raw materials for global manufacturing supply chains.

Environmental Impact: This project directly supports the Ministry of Environment’s “Clean, Green, and Sustainable” agenda by reducing plastic pollution and promoting resource efficiency.

Economic Diversification: By establishing a high-tech recycling hub in Pursat, Cambodia is proving that industrial growth can happen beyond Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville.

H.E. Keo Rottanak emphasized that this $29-million commitment is a direct result of investor confidence in Cambodia’s “Environmentally Responsible” industrial strategy.

Key Drivers for Investors:

Circular Economy Mandate: The government is actively incentivizing industries that reduce environmental footprints.

Stable Energy & Infrastructure: Pursat’s growing energy infrastructure makes it an ideal location for energy-intensive recycling processes.

ESG Compliance: For Western firms, Cambodia’s shift toward sustainable manufacturing offers a compliant and ethical base for regional operations.

For the American investor, the A1 Plastics project is proof that Cambodia is moving toward “Quality Industrialization.” The Kingdom is no longer just a place to build things; it is a place to build things sustainably. With the Mizuda Group’s waste-to-energy deal and now A1 Plastics’ $29M recycling hub, Cambodia is rapidly building a “Circular Value Chain” that will define its economic competitiveness for the next decade.
