<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Cambodia is working to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the entire country. The goal is to make it easier for people to get around and help businesses save money on fuel. By switching to electric cars and trucks, the country also aims to use cleaner energy and protect the environment.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Greener Power Grid</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-full"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1000" height="666" src="https://spcdn.shortpixel.ai/spio/ret_img,q_cdnize,to_auto,s_webp:avif/orkunsantepheap.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/cambodia-ev-charging-station-expansion.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-3287" srcset="https://spcdn.shortpixel.ai/spio/ret_img,q_cdnize,to_auto,s_webp:avif/orkunsantepheap.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/cambodia-ev-charging-station-expansion.jpg 1000w, https://spcdn.shortpixel.ai/spio/ret_img,q_cdnize,to_auto,s_webp:avif/orkunsantepheap.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/cambodia-ev-charging-station-expansion-300x200.jpg 300w, https://spcdn.shortpixel.ai/spio/ret_img,q_cdnize,to_auto,s_webp:avif/orkunsantepheap.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/cambodia-ev-charging-station-expansion-768x511.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption"><strong><em>H.E. Keo Rottanak, the Minister of Mines and Energy</em></strong></figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">According to H.E. Keo Rottanak, the Minister of Mines and Energy, about <strong>63% of the electricity</strong> in Cambodia already comes from clean sources. Because most of the nation’s power is now &#8220;green,&#8221; using it to charge vehicles is a huge win for the environment.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">During a recent event in Phnom Penh, the Minister explained that using clean energy isn&#8217;t just good for the planet—it also lowers monthly costs for families and business owners.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Government Support and Growth</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">To help more people make the switch to electric vehicles, several government departments are working together. They are offering special incentives to make it cheaper and easier for people to buy or build electric cars and batteries within Cambodia.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The growth of electric travel is happening quickly:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>More Cars:</strong> As of late 2025, there are over <strong>10,500 registered electric vehicles</strong> in Cambodia.</li>

<li><strong>More Stations:</strong> The government plans to install hundreds of new charging points.</li>

<li><strong>Private Partners:</strong> Companies like ZO Motors are also helping out. They plan to build <strong>300 fast-charging stations</strong> by 2027, with 200 of those scheduled to be built this year (2026).</li>
</ul>
