The post-rainy season, when the temple complex glistens under soft golden light, is particularly popular. According to Mr. Lek Kimlin, Director of the Angkor Wat Tourism Agency, between 50 and 60 couples visit Angkor Wat daily for professional photoshoots.

Photographers begin their work as early as 7 a.m., taking advantage of natural lighting and exploring the temple’s intricate corridors and ancient courtyards until late afternoon. Many describe the experience as transforming Angkor into a “heaven on earth” for couples.

Most Popular Photoshoot Locations

Among the most sought-after locations are the Western Causeway entrance, the first gallery, the North and South libraries, and the reflection pond, where the temple’s silhouette is mirrored in tranquil waters.

Within the main complex, couples also favor Kda Ben, the corners of the first enclosure, and the Northern Gate (known locally as Kuh Ta Leuk).

Beyond the main temple, the surrounding Angkor Archaeological Park offers numerous other scenic and historically rich backdrops, including Angkor Thom, the Terrace of the Elephants, Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Banteay Kdei, and Pre Rup Temple — each site providing its own romantic atmosphere steeped in Khmer history.

The growing popularity of Angkor Wat for pre-wedding photography reflects more than just a global trend — it embodies Cambodians’ deep cultural pride and emotional connection to Angkor as a symbol of national identity.

The Authority also reminded the public of the importance of keeping the site clean and undamaged, urging everyone to dispose of materials and beverage containers properly.

In a statement, the APSARA Authority emphasized that preserving Angkor’s beauty is a shared responsibility, vital for sustaining both Cambodia’s cultural heritage and its future as a global tourism destination.
