PHNOM PENH – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on Thursday held a high-level briefing for representatives of 21 diplomatic missions, providing updates on the evolving situation at the Cambodia-Thailand border. Cambodia reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful resolution through diplomatic dialogue.

The briefing was led by H.E. Norng Sakal, Undersecretary of State, at the ministry’s headquarters. A total of 24 diplomats attended the session to receive firsthand information on the Kingdom’s stance.

During the session, H.E. Norng Sakal outlined five critical areas of concern:

ASEAN Outcomes: Results from the Special ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (SAMM) held on December 22, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur.

GBC Progress: The ongoing status of the General Border Committee (GBC) Secretariat meetings.

Military Aggression: Reports on continued armed attacks by Thai forces within Cambodian territory.

Narrative Correction: Clarification on landmine issues, which Cambodia asserts Thailand has used to mislead the international community regarding its military actions.

Human Rights Violations: The Cambodian Human Rights Committee’s condemnation of “brutal and indiscriminate” attacks against populated areas in Banteay Meanchey, Pursat, Oddar Meanchey, Battambang, Preah Vihear, and Koh Kong.

H.E. Norng Sakal reiterated that Cambodia continues to exercise “maximum restraint.” He emphasized that the Kingdom prioritizes international law and existing bilateral mechanisms, specifically citing the July 28, 2025 Ceasefire Agreement and the October 26, 2025 Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration.

The briefing concluded with a firm message that Cambodia remains dedicated to maintaining regional peace and stability through peaceful dispute settlements.
