The forum, held at the Ministry of Commerce and attended by approximately 250 participants, served as a crucial meeting point. It brought together members of the Cambodia Food Manufacturers Association and local SMEs with major buyers, including the Cambodia Chef Association, the Cambodia Hotel Association, and various leading retail chains and supermarkets. H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, was also present, underscoring a unified government approach.

In her keynote address, Minister Nimul stressed the strategic importance of the gathering as a “pivotal step in strengthening market linkages, fostering dialogue on marketing, and ultimately driving sales of domestic products.” She reinforced the government’s flagship “Use Cambodian Products” campaign as the driving force behind the initiative.

To guarantee sustained success, Minister Nimul announced a proposal to formalize these business matching events, holding them quarterly and initially focusing on key cities and provinces. She also called upon major retail chains to dedicate more shelf space specifically to Cambodian-made goods and urged expanded public awareness campaigns.

Minister Hem Vanndy outlined parallel efforts by his ministry to enhance the supply side. He focused on the critical role of product standardisation, technical innovation, and stringent quality control to meet consumer expectations and build market competitiveness.

Minister Vanndy concluded with a call for cultural change: “A fundamental shift in mindset is essential. We must not only value and consistently use our own products but also deepen our understanding of consumer needs to enhance the quality and competitiveness of Cambodian goods in the marketplace.”

This initiative represents a collaborative government effort to bolster domestic production, improve product quality, and secure sustainable market access for Cambodian SMEs and artisans.
