PHNOM PENH – The Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC) and the Thailand Mine Action Centre (TMAC) held a virtual meeting this morning to continue detailed discussions. The focus was on the pilot area within the priority border zone designated for humanitarian demining operations.
The specific pilot area under joint review is located in O’Beichoan commune, O’Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, Cambodia. This site is situated directly opposite Nonmak Moon commune, Khok Song district, Sa Kaeo province, Thailand.
According to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence, the meeting followed the decision made during the Joint Coordinating Task Force (JCTF) meeting on October 31, 2025.
She confirmed that all implementation work and subsequent discussions will strictly adhere to the principles and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) agreed upon by the JCTF of both nations.
H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata further emphasized that the humanitarian demining will be conducted with full respect for the principles of protecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, underpinned by a strong spirit of mutual respect and cooperation between Cambodia and Thailand.
