China Hopes Cambodia and Thailand Can Chill Out

China Urges Cambodia & Thailand to Ease Border Tension

Hey, did you catch the news about Cambodia and Thailand’s border situation?

So, China is stepping in and basically saying they’re committed to helping calm things down between the two countries. They want to play a supportive role in easing that border tension that’s been happening.

Yesterday, on November 13th, the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Mr. Lin Jian, had a regular press conference, and he mentioned that China has noticed some new little issues popping up while Cambodia and Thailand are trying to follow their previous agreement (the Joint Declaration).

He put it simply: “Look, we’re close friends and neighbors to both countries, right? So, China really hopes that both sides can stay calm, work toward the same goal, have a friendly chat, use the communication channels they already have, and find a solution they can both agree on as soon as possible. And, you know, just avoid letting things get worse.”

He also confirmed that China isn’t just going to stand by—they plan to keep doing whatever they can, in their own way, to help everything cool off.
