H.E. Hem Vanndy, the Minister in charge of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, recently led a group on a significant visit to two major tech companies that partner with Huawei: Capitalonline and Beijing Electronic Digital and Intelligence (BEDI).
The main goal of this trip was to speed up Cambodia’s move into the digital age and build stronger working relationships with international tech leaders.
🧠 The Focus: AI and Cloud Technology
The Minister’s team focused on learning about two cutting-edge areas:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI): Technology that allows computers and systems to think and learn like humans.
- Cloud Computing: Storing and accessing data and programs over the internet instead of on a local computer’s hard drive.
The focus was specifically on transferring this advanced technology to Cambodia. This is key to achieving three major national goals:
- Boost Productivity: Helping businesses and industries work faster and better.
- Modernize Systems: Updating old ways of doing things in both government and private companies.
- Improve Governance: Making public services more efficient and effective for citizens.

The delegation got to see the latest technology in action, including:
- AI-Powered Data Centers: These are huge, smart facilities that handle and process the massive amounts of information needed for AI applications.
- High-Speed Computing: Powerful computer systems capable of handling complex tasks quickly across vital areas like online shopping, education, health care, and manufacturing.
Both companies highlighted their AI Data Centers (AIDC), showing how they can train large AI models and process data very efficiently. This capability is crucial for supporting local industries, improving public services, and sparking new ideas and innovation.
🤝 Next Steps for Partnership
To encourage continued collaboration, Minister Vanndy took the opportunity to invite the two companies to:
- Establish a Presence in Cambodia: He asked them to consider setting up local operations.
- Showcase Their Tech: He invited them to present their latest solutions at the 4th National Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) Day in March 2026. This event will help bring practical AI tools and applications directly to Cambodian businesses and communities.
