Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health, H.E. Prof. Koy Vanny, held discussions here on Dec. 3 with Ms. Nellie Ghusayni, Chief of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Mission in Cambodia. The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation on migrant worker health and public preparedness between the two organisations.
H.E. Prof. Koy Vanny expressed appreciation and gratitude to the IOM for its longstanding commitment and close cooperation with Cambodia. He underscored IOM’s crucial role in supporting the Royal Government’s efforts to improve the health of migrant workers, enhance public health preparedness, and build a stronger, more inclusive health system.
Implementing Cooperation Projects on the Ground
H.E. Prof. Koy Vanny encouraged the IOM to swiftly implement the agreed-upon cooperation projects. He stressed working closely with local authorities, the Provincial/Capital Health Departments, National Programmes, relevant National Centres, as well as public health facilities to ensure effective results on the ground.
IOM Commends Focus on Border Communities
For her part, Ms. Nellie Ghusayni highly appreciated and commended the Royal Government of Cambodia, especially the leadership of the Ministry of Health, for focusing attention on the health of migrant and displaced families along the borders. She noted this comprehensive approach covers both prevention and treatment of emergency and chronic diseases.
