PHNOM PENH โ€“ On December 31, 2025, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a formal statement clarifying Cambodiaโ€™s stance on the current developments concerning the Taiwan issue.

Advocating for Regional Stability

In response to media inquiries, the Ministry re-emphasized Cambodia’s strong advocacy for regional peace, stability, and harmony. The Kingdom maintains that differences and disputes must be resolved through peaceful means and mutual respect. Cambodia expressed its earnest hope that all concerned parties would find an appropriate avenue to de-escalate the current situation.

Support for Chinaโ€™s National Reunification

The statement reiterated Cambodiaโ€™s resolute commitment to the One-China Policy, highlighting the following core principles:

  • Sole Lawful Government: Cambodia recognizes the Government of the Peopleโ€™s Republic of China as the only lawful government representing the whole of China.
  • Inalienable Territory: Taiwan is viewed as an inseparable part of Chinaโ€™s territory.
  • Internal Affairs: The Taiwan issue is considered an internal affair of the Peopleโ€™s Republic of China.
