Cambodia’s Trade with the U.S. Hits Record High in 2025

Bilateral trade between Cambodia and the U.S. jumped 29% in 2025. Learn how the new 19% reciprocal tariff is boosting exports and economic growth.

Trade between Cambodia and the United States grew significantly in 2025, reaching a total value of US$13.14 billion. This is a 29% increase compared to the previous year, showing that the economic bond between the two nations remains very strong.

The United States: Cambodia’s Top Customer

The U.S. continues to be the largest buyer of Cambodian products. In 2025, Cambodia exported about US$12.73 billion worth of goods to the U.S. market.

To put that in perspective:

  • 42% of everything Cambodia sells to the world goes to the United States.
  • Despite new tax rules (tariffs) introduced in early 2025, Cambodian exports still grew by over 28%.

What is Being Traded?

The trade relationship is a two-way street involving a variety of everyday and industrial products:

  • What Cambodia Sells to the U.S.: Mostly clothing, shoes, handbags, leather goods, and electrical equipment.
  • What Cambodia Buys from the U.S.: Mainly cars, industrial machinery, medical tools, and medicine. Imports of American goods saw a massive 57% jump this year.

A New “Fair Trade” Agreement

A major reason for this continued success is a new trade deal. After negotiations, both countries agreed on a 19% tax rate for goods sent to each other.

H.E. Penn Sovicheat from the Ministry of Commerce explained that this agreement helps create a “favorable environment” for businesses. It provides certainty for companies, ensuring they can keep investing and creating jobs in Cambodia. Moving forward, both countries will continue to meet to find more ways to make trading easier and faster.
