Hun Sen Reaffirms Commitment to Peace and Ceasefire with Thailand

PHNOM PENH — Acting Head of State Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm commitment to maintaining the ceasefire with Thailand and resolving the border issue through peaceful means. The goal, he stated, is to restore normalcy in the bilateral relations between the two neighbors.

The reaffirmation came during his meeting this afternoon with a delegation from the Parliamentary Federation for World Peace (PFWP) Malaysia, led by its Chairman, Senator H.E. Datuk Wira Mohd Hatta Bin Md Ramli, at the Senate Palace in Phnom Penh.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed his gratitude to Malaysia, specifically Prime Minister H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, for his swift and proactive role in mediating the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute.

For his part, H.E. Datuk Wira Mohd Hatta Bin Md Ramli thanked Samdech Techo for providing a clear and comprehensive explanation of both the historical and current aspects of the border issue. He voiced his hope for a peaceful resolution and lasting peace between the two nations.

The PFWP Malaysia Chairman also praised Cambodia’s remarkable progress and development, noting his strong impression upon arriving at the Kingdom’s new and spacious Techo International Airport, which he said reflects Cambodia’s significant advancement.
