Preah Sihanouk, Cambodia — Cambodia on Sunday launched a new direct flight route connecting Preah Sihanouk Province with Xiamen, a major port city in China’s Fujian Province, in a move aimed at strengthening tourism, trade and investment links between the two countries.
The inaugural flight, operated by SKY Angkor Airlines, departed from Sihanouk International Airport, carrying 147 passengers. The launch ceremony was presided over by Preah Sihanouk Governor Mang Sineth, according to provincial authorities.
Speaking at the event, the governor said the new route reflects Cambodia’s ongoing economic development and highlights the growing role of Preah Sihanouk Province as a key destination for tourism and investment. He noted that expanding air connectivity remains a strategic priority for the Royal Government of Cambodia as it seeks to attract more international visitors and foreign investors.
With the addition of the Xiamen service, Preah Sihanouk Province now has direct air links to six Chinese cities, including Shenzhen, Wuxi, Chengdu, Macau and Kunming. The province also maintains international routes to Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City, alongside daily domestic flights.
Governor Mang Sineth said the expansion of flight connections demonstrates stability and security in the province, which is known for its coastal attractions, islands and beaches. He reaffirmed the local administration’s commitment to maintaining security, environmental protection and public hygiene as part of efforts to support sustainable tourism and long-term investment.
China remains one of Cambodia’s largest sources of tourists and foreign investment, and aviation links between the two countries have been gradually expanding as regional travel continues to recover.
