PHNOM PENH — The Ministry of National Defence (MND) of the Kingdom of Cambodia confirmed that a formal communication exchange has taken place between frontline military units of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and the Royal Thai Army (RTA).
H.E. Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, released a statement informing the general public and media outlets about the bilateral communication.
The confirmation pertains to a letter issued by the 5th Military Region of the Royal Cambodian Army, dated Saturday, October 4, 2025. This letter served as a response to an earlier communication received from the 1st Army Area of the Royal Thai Army, dated Friday, October 3, 2025.
The communication signifies standard protocol in maintaining cross-border relations between the two countries’ armed forces. Further details regarding the content of the military-to-military letters were not immediately disclosed by the Ministry.
