PM Hun Manet Receives Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister to Boost Bilateral Ties

Phnom Penh — This morning, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received H.E. Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development of Malaysia, and President of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), during his working visit to Cambodia.

H.E. Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi highly commended Cambodia’s rapid development, specifically citing the construction of Techo International Airport. He expressed satisfaction with the growing friendship and cooperation between Malaysia and Cambodia, reaffirming Malaysia’s commitment to further strengthen collaboration in various sectors such as trade, economy, and people-to-people exchanges.

Samdech Thipadei warmly welcomed H.E. Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his delegation, noting their participation in the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management and related meetings in Phnom Penh.

The Cambodian Premier expressed his delight at the steady progress of Cambodia-Malaysia relations and cooperation. Both sides discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation in key areas, including the halal industry, medical tourism, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), agriculture, finance, and banking.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei conveyed his deep appreciation to H.E. Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, for his efforts in facilitating the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand. He also thanked the Commander-in-Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces for actively coordinating ceasefire monitoring, as well as the Head of the Interim Observer Team (IOT) in Cambodia for conducting observation missions along the Cambodian-Thai border.
