Phnom Penh, October 19, 2025 —
Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has firmly rejected rumors circulating on social media that Cambodia’s ceasefire agreement of July 28, 2025, and the upcoming peace agreement could lead to a loss of Cambodian land or sovereignty.
Posting on his official social media page this morning, Hun Manet clarified that the July 28 ceasefire only defines conditions and a code of conduct to prevent renewed conflict — not any territorial changes.
“The ceasefire agreement aims to maintain peace and stability. It contains no mention of borders or territorial issues,” the Prime Minister said. “The upcoming peace agreement will establish mechanisms to end the conflict and strengthen relations between the countries involved.”
Hun Manet emphasized that neither agreement affects Cambodia’s borders or territorial rights. He reaffirmed that the Cambodia–Thailand Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) is solely responsible for border demarcation and boundary marker placement, operating under existing treaties and international law.
“In short,” he added, “Cambodia has not entered into any agreement that would compromise its sovereignty or territorial integrity. The Royal Government has never forgotten its duty to protect our nation’s legal rights and sovereignty.”
The Prime Minister’s statement follows social media misinformation suggesting that Cambodia might lose land as part of the peace process. Hun Manet’s remarks aim to reassure the public that the government’s diplomatic efforts prioritize peace, stability, and national unity, without sacrificing Cambodia’s territorial sovereignty.
