PHNOM PENH — Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received H.E. General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, for a high-level courtesy call and bilateral talks at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Senate Spokesman H.E. Chea Thyrith, Samdech Techo extended a warm welcome to H.E. Luong Tam Quang and his delegation, who visited the Kingdom to participate in the 2nd Ministerial Meeting between the Cambodian Ministry of Interior, the Lao Ministry of Public Security, and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security. Samdech Techo highly commended all parties on the successful and productive outcomes of the trilateral summit.

During the audience, H.E. Luong Tam Quang expressed his profound gratitude to Samdech Techo and noted that the successful ministerial framework perfectly mirrors the solid solidarity binding Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, particularly the historic ties between Phnom Penh and Hanoi.

The Vietnamese Minister emphasized that maintaining these longstanding relations is vital, underscoring that mutual defense and security cooperation remain imperative to safeguarding peace and regional stability for both neighboring nations.

Furthermore, H.E. Luong Tam Quang highlighted the strategic importance of preventing any hostile group from utilizing the sovereign territory of one nation to launch subversive activities against another, reaffirming the collective commitment of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam to regional security.

In response, Samdech Techo Hun Sen strongly endorsed these security benchmarks, emphasizing that under no circumstances should any force be permitted to weaponize Vietnamese territory against Cambodia, or Cambodian territory against Vietnam. He reiterated that seamless, multi-agency intelligence and security coordination are vital to preemptively neutralise such threats.

The Acting Head of State also encouraged local authorities stationed along the Cambodia-Vietnam border to sustain routine operational coordination to safeguard security, thereby transforming the border into a zone of lasting friendship, peace, cross-border cooperation, and vibrant economic development for mutual commercial prosperity.

In addition, Samdech Techo stressed the urgent necessity for both nations to launch joint institutional efforts to combat coordinated disinformation and malicious fake news campaigns engineered to undermine the diplomatic harmony and bilateral relations between Cambodia and Vietnam.
