Phnom Penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, emphasized the critical role of diplomacy in resolving disputes during his participation in the 20th East Asia Summit (EAS) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
According to a press release from the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, issued on October 28, 2025, the Prime Minister stated that: โEven the most difficult conflicts can be resolved through mutual respect, patience, and diplomacy.โ
Samdech Thipadei highlighted the signing of the “Kuala Lumpur Joint Statement on the Peace Agreement” between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, as a powerful testament to this principle. He noted that this success is the result of a ceasefire effort diligently established and strictly adhered to by both nations, with crucial support from international partners.
In line with his “Silent but Not Still” strategy, Prime Minister Hun Manet sincerely thanked the key partners for their contributions to this historic peace agreement:
- Malaysia: For facilitating direct and constructive dialogue (with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim acting as facilitator).
- The United States: For promoting the cessation of hostilities and supporting the ceasefire agreement (with U.S. President Donald Trump serving as a witness).
- China: For arranging a series of informal dialogues aimed at promoting mutual understanding and encouraging a peaceful resolution.
This achievement marks a significant and positive step toward the normalization of Cambodia-Thailand relations, and the transformation of the disputed border areas into zones of peace, friendship, cooperation, and shared development.
