Phnom Penh Hosts 3rd Annual World Green & Sustainability Summit

The 3rd annual 2025 World Green & Sustainability Summit officially began today in Phnom Penh, bringing together leaders to discuss and promote initiatives focused on climate change, sustainable investment, green finance, and green growth.

The summit’s opening ceremony was presided over by H.E. Vongsey Vissoth, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers, representing Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Techo Hun Manet.

The event, held under the theme โ€œShaping the Future of Sustainability and Building a Sustainable World,โ€ aims to reinforce the United Nations 2030 Agenda and uphold the four crucial principles: Planet, People, Prosperity, and Partnership (4Ps).

The summit was launched with welcoming remarks from Tan Sri Michael Yeoh, President of the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, and a special address on the “Asia-Pacific Green Deal” by H.E. Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, UN Under-Secretary General and Executive Secretary of ESCAP.

Focus on Green Leadership and Cambodian Strategy

This year’s event is particularly timely, coinciding with a global shift in sustainability leadership. While many nations face political distractions, the summit acknowledged Chinaโ€™s emerging role in climate diplomacy and green innovation, highlighted by its Belt and Road green finance commitments and massive investments in renewable energy and electric vehicles (EVs). The event provides a crucial platform to engage with regions actively shaping a sustainable future.

The Summit’s core mission is to convene government officials, business leaders, academics, and think tanks to accelerate and promote green growth for a more inclusive and environmentally conscious world.

The Royal Government of Cambodia is actively advancing its own sustainable development agenda through green growth strategies and policies, guided by the Pentagonal Strategy roadmap. Green business practices are highlighted as a crucial factor in Cambodia’s transition toward a sustainable and inclusive economy, offering long-term competitiveness and resilience alongside environmental benefits.

The world-class event serves multiple functions: as a high-level dialogue platform, a policy incubator, a solution hub for sustainability projects, and a vital networking opportunity for policymakers, investors, and industry leaders seeking to speed up public-private solutions for a greener trade and economy.

The Summit was hosted by Cambodiaโ€™s Trade Policy Advisory Board and organized jointly by the Economic Society of Cambodia, KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, World Green Organisation, ASEAN Economic Club, World Digital Chamber, and ASEAN Business Club.
