Analyst’s View

Tourism analyst Sok Narith described the TripAdvisor ranking as “a powerful endorsement of Angkor’s timeless appeal.”

He noted that the ranking comes at a crucial time as Cambodia’s tourism sector recovers from global disruptions. “Being placed second in all of Asia sends a strong signal to international travelers that Angkor remains a mustโ€‘see destination. It also presents an opportunity to further promote cultural tourism beyond the temple complex,” he said.

Outlook

With the high season for Cambodian tourism typically running from November to February, the strong performance in the first four months of 2026 suggests a robust year ahead. The Royal Government of Cambodia has been investing in infrastructure, digital ticketing, and visitor experience improvements to sustain the recovery.
