His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, and Her Majesty Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, departed from Phnom Penh International Airport this morning for their routine medical checkup in Beijing, China.
The monarchs were seen off by a delegation of Cambodia’s top leaders, including Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse, along with National Assembly President Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet. The presence of Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, H.E. Wang Wenbin, also highlighted the warm relationship between the two nations.

In a recent royal message, it was announced that during the King’s absence, Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen will serve as the Acting Head of State. This temporary transfer of authority is a customary procedure during the King’s frequent medical visits to Beijing, where he and the Queen-Mother consistently receive warm hospitality from Chinese leaders and medical staff.
Their Majesties’ last medical visit to China was from March 3 to April 7, 2025, underscoring the routine nature of these trips to ensure their continued health and well-being.
