Hey, have you heard about the amazing job news? All the major trade unions here in Cambodia are giving a massive cheer to the Ministry of Labour (MLVT)!
They’re praising the Ministry because theyβve been working non-stop to get Cambodian workers who returned from Thailand back into jobs here at home. And get this: in just the last three months, the Ministry announced they successfully found jobs for more than 340,000 of those workers! That’s insane!
The MLVT is also reminding anyone who is still unemployed that they need to show up at the job fair tomorrow, November 15, 2025, to see what opportunities are out there.
Why the Unions Are So Happy
Union leaders are highlighting that the Ministry’s support was total, right from the start. They helped coordinate everyone’s safe return at the border, organized transportation back to their home provinces, and then launched these super-effective job placement programs.
Hereβs what a couple of the top union presidents had to say:
- Sam Soeun, from the Cambodia National Labour Confederation, called it “remarkable.” He said, “As a union, we really want to thank the government and the MLVT for all their constant effort and attention to workers, especially those coming back from Thailand. Finding over 340,000 jobs is a seriously amazing achievement.”
- Kong Atith, from the Cambodian Labour Union Federation, echoed that sentiment, saying the Ministry’s quick action was “beyond expectations.” He added, “We all know itβs not easy to find jobs for that many people so fast. This is a huge positive outcome.”
Others, like Un Dara and Hang Ravy, also praised the system and the leader. They said it shows the Ministry has a clear strategy and strong, active leadershipβespecially giving a nod to Minister Heng Sour for making this happen so quickly.
Where Did All Those Jobs Go?
The Ministry broke down where the workers landed:
- About 270,000 went into formal jobs, like those in factories, enterprises, and companies.
- The other 70,000 were placed in smaller businesses (SMEs), craftsmanship, restaurants, and construction.
The MLVT stressed they are totally committed to continuing these job-creating events, like the fair tomorrow, and strongly encourages all former migrant workers who are still job-seeking to attend!
