Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Prak Sokhonn, recently met with H.E. Ignazio Cassis, the Head of Foreign Affairs for Switzerland. The meeting took place in Kigali, Rwanda, on the afternoon of November 20th, while both were attending a major international conference (the 46th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie).
Deepening the Partnership
According to Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both Ministers spoke highly of the growing relationship between Cambodia and Switzerland. They spent time discussing how they could further deepen their existing cooperation in the future.
H.E. Prak Sokhonn expressed Cambodia’s gratitude for the help Switzerland provides, especially in important areas like:
- Health
- Mine clearance (demining)
- Culture
- Local governance (helping local governments run better)
Looking Ahead to the Summit
Switzerland also expressed its strong support for Cambodia as it prepares to host the major 20th Francophonie Summit in 2026. Switzerland noted that it looks forward to participating in this important event.
