Cambodia-Thailand GBC Secretariat Continues In-Depth Talks to Bolster Ceasefire

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — The Secretariat of the Cambodia-Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) continued its in-depth discussions for the third consecutive day in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, today, October 22. The talks are focused on key documents aimed at strengthening mutual trust and enhancing the implementation of the fragile ceasefire agreement.

According to a press release from the Ministry of National Defence received this afternoon, the Secretariat teams are prioritizing documents designed to improve the effectiveness, mutual confidence, and coordination of the existing ceasefire between the two nations.

This ongoing GBC Secretariat meeting serves as the final preparatory session for the highly anticipated 2nd Special Cambodia-Thailand GBC Meeting, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow, October 23.

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, H.E. Gen. Tea Seiha, arrived in Kuala Lumpur this morning to attend the special meeting. He remains optimistic that the main event will yield fruitful outcomes and contribute to promoting peace, cooperation, development, and a swift return to normalcy along the shared border.
