PHNOM PENH โ Demonstrating the depth of the Cambodia-China “Ironclad Friendship,” the first shipment of emergency humanitarian aid from Beijing arrived at Techo International Airport on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
The aid package is part of a RMB 20 million (approx. $2.8 million) commitment pledged by the Chinese government to support the estimated 640,000 civilians displaced by the recent Cambodia-Thailand border conflict.
Timely Relief for Displaced Families
H.E. Wang Wenbin, Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, confirmed that this initial batch includes essential survival supplies:
- Emergency Shelter: Large-scale tents for displacement camps.
- Climate Protection: Thousands of blankets to protect against the cool December nights.
- Food Security: High-protein and staple food items for immediate distribution.
“China is the first country to provide assistance to Cambodia since the outbreak began,” Ambassador Wang stated on social media. “We hope these supplies provide timely assistance to improve living conditions and help the Cambodian people overcome these difficulties.”
Trilateral Diplomacy in Yunnan
As the aid reached Phnom Penh, a high-stakes trilateral meeting was underway in Yunnan Province, China. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is currently hosting the foreign ministers and military representatives of both Cambodia and Thailand.
The talks aim to consolidate the ceasefire signed on December 27 and establish a “lasting peace” that allows the million-plus civilians on both sides of the border to return home safely.
