Kampong Cham: On July 7, 2026, Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet officially inaugurated the upgraded National Road 7 (Skun-Kampong Cham). Valued at nearly $118 million, this 45.5 km highway is a cornerstone of the infrastructure legacy established by Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

Key Highlights from PM Hun Manet’s Address:

  • Economic Impact: With a projected Economic Internal Rate of Return (EIRR) of 15.27%, the project is a high-value investment. The road features high-standard asphalt concrete and steel-fiber reinforced concrete, ensuring durability for 4-lane traffic.
  • Logistics Master Plan (2023-2033): The PM reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing 11 key logistics hubs nationwide. This road serves as a vital transit corridor, connecting the capital to the northeastern provinces and the Cambodian-Lao border to facilitate agricultural exports to China.
  • Infrastructure Governance: The PM emphasized strict measures against overloaded vehicles, mandating the use of “Smart Scales” and enforcing rigorous technical standards. He asserted that the government will continue to prioritize road, rail, and air connectivity under the slogan “Where there is a road, there is hope.”
