Unilever to Establish Local Manufacturing Lines in Cambodia to Drive Market Growth

PHNOM PENH — Unilever, the London-based multinational consumer packaged goods titan, has unveiled strategic plans to establish direct manufacturing operations in Cambodia, aiming to solidify its commercial footprint and address accelerating local consumer demand.

The industrial expansion roadmap was highlighted during a high-level courtesy meeting on June 29, 2026, between Mr. Ali Tariq, Unilever’s Regional General Manager for Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos, and H.E. Cham Nimul, Cambodia’s Minister of Commerce.

Under the new operational strategy, Unilever will pivot from a purely import-reliant model to launching functional production lines within Cambodia. This historic transition is engineered to diversify the corporation’s regional supply chain while significantly expanding its locally manufactured product portfolio.

H.E. Cham Nimul highly commended Unilever’s 23-year legacy of commercial operations in the Kingdom, acknowledging the brand’s sustained contribution to enhancing consumer well-being through high-quality goods.

During the presentation, Mr. Ali Tariq briefed the Ministry on Unilever’s recent industrial milestones and its agility in modernizing import sources to align with the dynamic development of the Cambodian market.

In response, Minister Cham Nimul reaffirmed the Ministry of Commerce’s rigorous commitment to cultivating a highly favorable, transparent, and legally predictable investment climate for multinational corporations.

“The Ministry remains stringently focused on enforcing intellectual property rights, optimizing market competitiveness, and guaranteeing a fair, level playing field for all corporate and commercial enterprises,” H.E. Cham Nimul stated.

The Minister expressed strong optimism that Unilever’s strategic shift toward localized manufacturing will serve as a powerful economic catalyst—generating quality employment opportunities for Cambodians while delivering enhanced product variety and superior value to local consumers.
