Honoring Historic Ties and Shared Struggles

H.E. Tran Thanh Man extended a warm welcome to Samdech Techo Hun Sen and his delegation, who joined Vietnam’s commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. He highlighted that Cambodia’s participation was not only symbolic but also a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations.

Hun Sen described the August Revolution of 1945 as a pivotal historical moment, not just for Vietnam but also for the broader region. He noted that Vietnam’s struggle for independence inspired many anti-colonial movements worldwide, including Cambodia’s own journey toward sovereignty.

Expanding Cooperation at Multiple Levels

The Senate President emphasized the importance of cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam across various platforms. He noted that collaboration at the legislative and executive levels, alongside direct party-to-party relations, has continued to reinforce mutual trust and strengthen diplomatic foundations.

Hun Sen expressed satisfaction that both nations maintain close dialogue, ensuring steady momentum in their partnership. Such cooperation, he said, helps maintain peace, stability, and prosperity in the region while also enhancing ties with the international community.

Economic Growth and Human Resource Development

Highlighting the economic dimension of the relationship, Hun Sen pointed out the steady rise in bilateral trade, which has reached an annual figure of US$10 billion. He reaffirmed both nations’ shared goal of doubling that amount to US$20 billion, reflecting confidence in future growth.

Hun Sen also expressed deep appreciation to Vietnam for its continued support in providing scholarships for Cambodian students. These opportunities, spanning the economy, military, and other fields, have been vital in strengthening Cambodia’s human resource development and long-term capacity building.

Looking Toward the Future

The talks concluded with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to preserving the spirit of solidarity that has long bound Cambodia and Vietnam. They emphasized that cooperation in politics, economy, education, and culture will remain central pillars in their relationship.

Hun Sen’s visit to Hanoi was not only an act of solidarity during Vietnam’s historic commemoration but also a strategic reaffirmation of the enduring friendship and future-focused partnership between the two neighbors.
