India Condemns Destruction of Hindu Statues by Thai Military at Cambodia-Thailand Border

NEW DELHI – The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday, December 24, issued a strong condemnation regarding the destruction of Hindu deities’ statues at the Cambodia-Thailand border by the Thai military, labeling the act as “utterly disrespectful.”

In an official statement, a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that Hinduism and Buddhism are revered by people across the entire region. The spokesperson noted that regardless of territorial claims, such acts of desecration deeply hurt the sentiments of believers worldwide and should never occur.

Furthermore, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs called upon both Cambodia and Thailand to return to the path of diplomatic dialogue to restore peace. The ministry urged both nations to avoid further loss of life and prevent any more damage to property and cultural heritage sites.
