According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the meeting focused on the common desire to achieve peace and stability between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as throughout the wider region. The parties reaffirmed a firm commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes, the non-use of force, and respect for international law.

Call for Sincerity and Implementation of Agreements

In his opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn expressed gratitude to Malaysia and the United States for facilitating the constructive meeting. He then underscored the critical importance of ensuring the full and effective implementation of all agreements reached under various bilateral frameworks, including the General Border Committee (GBC), the Regional Border Committee (RBC), and the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC).

H.E. Prak Sokhonn stressed that:

“sincerity must be demonstrated through tangible actions on the ground.”

The Cambodian top diplomat emphasized Cambodia’s deep commitment to peace, stating that as a country “scarred by decades or even centuries of conflicts, Cambodia knows too well the devastating consequences of war.”

“This is precisely why we have always held peace as our most precious treasure… Cambodia has consistently stood for peaceful resolution of disputes, in full conformity with international laws. We harbour no desire to take what is not ours, but at the same time we will not accept losing what is rightfully belongs to us. What we seek is a fair, just impartial, and rules-based solution – one that can ensure long-lasting peace for our peoples,” he continued.
