A new direct air link between Cambodia and India, scheduled to launch soon, is poised to significantly improve access to affordable, high-quality medical services for Cambodian citizens, officials announced Thursday.

Beginning November 13, IndiGo Airlines will operate three weekly flights connecting Siem Reap, Cambodia, with Kolkata, India. Kolkata is a major commercial city and a prominent hub for advanced medical care in Eastern India. The new schedule includes flights every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Streamlining Medical Tourism

This route is designed to specifically facilitate medical travel, directly linking Cambodian patients with the services offered by India’s renowned Apollo Hospitals network. The direct connection is expected to streamline travel logistics, enabling patients to undergo consultations, procedures, and check-ups with minimal transit time, allowing them to return home quickly.

“With the introduction of direct flights, our high-quality medical services are more accessible and convenient than ever for Cambodian citizens,” stated Abhijit Majumdar, Chief Executive Officer of Apollo Hospitals in Kolkata. “We are confident this new air link will make our patient-centered healthcare a viable option for many.”

Apollo Hospitals’ Commitment

Apollo Hospitals, recognized as one of Asia’s largest and most prominent healthcare providers, boasts a record of treating over 150 million patients from more than 140 countries. The group is lauded for its medical excellence, advanced technology, and research initiatives.

The hospital group is set to formally introduce its services to the Cambodian public at the upcoming Wellness Expo 2025, organized by the International Business Chamber of Cambodia. The event will take place on November 1-2 at the AEON Mall Meanchey in Phnom Penh.

“Our goal is to provide Cambodian patients with both quality and convenience,” Majumdar added, emphasizing the commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services worldwide.
