Both Sides Aim for US$1 Billion in Bilateral Trade

During the discussion, both parties reviewed the progress of current bilateral trade activities and explored strategies to expand economic ties further. They set a joint goal of achieving US$1 billion in bilateral trade within the near future—a target seen as achievable through mutual efforts and private sector engagement.

Minister Cham Nimul identified four key sectors that hold strong potential for partnership: medical equipment, health tourism, textiles and clothing, and construction. She invited Turkish companies to explore investment opportunities and business partnerships in these industries, highlighting Cambodia’s growing market potential, favorable investment environment, and strategic location in Southeast Asia.

In response, Mr. Baran affirmed the Ankara Chamber of Commerce’s dedication to supporting stronger trade relations. He announced that a Turkish business delegation would visit Cambodia in early 2026 to participate in a business matching event, aiming to connect Turkish investors with Cambodian companies and promote long-term cooperation.

Expanding Business Links Beyond Trade

Beyond institutional cooperation, Minister Cham Nimul also held a separate meeting with Mr. Hasan Gümüş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yayla Company. The discussion focused on importing Cambodian agricultural products—including rice, cashew nuts, dried fruits, and other nuts—for processing and export to the Turkish, European, and Middle Eastern markets.

Established in 1923, the Ankara Chamber of Commerce currently represents more than 170,000 member companies, making it one of the largest and most influential business organizations in Türkiye. Its engagement with Cambodia marks a new chapter in advancing economic connectivity between the two nations.

This growing partnership between Cambodia and Türkiye underscores a shared vision to diversify markets, strengthen trade networks, and encourage cross-border investment for sustainable economic growth. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to turning dialogue into action—transforming potential into prosperity for businesses in both countries.
