Phnom Penh: According to a release by Fresh News on the afternoon of Thursday, November 6, 2025, eighteen Cambodian soldiers currently in Thai custody are slated to be returned to the Kingdom of Cambodia on November 12, 2025.

Fresh News further reported that the handover process will take place at the Ban Pak Kad border crossing in Chanthaburi Province, Thailand.

It is recalled that these eighteen Cambodian soldiers were apprehended by the Thai military on the morning of July 29, 2025, one day following the mutual agreement on a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand.

The release of the eighteen Cambodian soldiers constitutes one of the conditions explicitly stipulated in Point 5 of the Joint Statement on Cambodia-Thailand Peace, which was signed on October 26, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The statement was formally signed by the Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Thailand, the President of the United States, and the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
