KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: On the afternoon of Monday, October 27, 2025, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and His Excellency Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, utilized a window of opportunity during the busy schedule of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits to hold a significant informal meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Although brief, this high-level, informal consultation between the two leaders unequivocally demonstrated the steadfast commitment to further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Cambodia and Chinaโa relationship often characterized as an unbreakable “Ironclad Friendship.”
The presence of both leaders at the ASEAN-China forum, as well as related meetings such as the East Asia Summit (EAS), provided a special opportunity for Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and H.E. Li Qiang to review the progress of bilateral cooperation across several key sectors. These areas include trade, investment, infrastructure development, and cultural exchange, which form the foundational pillars for the ongoing “China-Cambodia Community with a Shared Future” initiative.
This meeting is viewed as a crucial step to accelerate major priority projects previously agreed upon by the two nations. It aims not only to ensure tangible benefits for the peoples of both countries but also to secure peace, stability, and prosperity within the wider Southeast Asian region. The continuation of high-level dialogue on the sidelines of major multilateral events underscores the strategic importance both Phnom Penh and Beijing place on maintaining political trust and close coordination amidst evolving regional and global complexities.
