PHNOM PENH – Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has reaffirmed Cambodia’s steadfast commitment to upholding the spirit of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration.
This position was re-emphasized during a telephone conversation held on the night of December 25, 2025, between the Premier and the Honorable Marco Rubio, Secretary of State of the United States.
According to Samdech Thipadei, the discussion focused on current developments and explored ways to secure a rapid ceasefire along the Cambodia-Thailand border. Both leaders discussed the ongoing implementation of the peace agreement to achieve a lasting and sustainable peace between the two neighboring nations.
Secretary Rubio stated that the United States is eager to see a sustainable peace established between Cambodia and Thailand and will work actively to facilitate a ceasefire as soon as possible.
Samdech Thipadei expressed his hope that both sides would continue to collaborate in accordance with all existing agreements.
“Cambodia continues to maintain its position of resolving border issues peacefully, in accordance with the principles and mechanisms previously agreed upon, in order to resolve the Cambodia-Thailand border issue and build lasting peace between the two countries,” the Prime Minister stressed.
