Samdech Techo Hun Sen Attends One-Year Memorial for H.E. Dr. Chea Chanto

PHNOM PENH โ€“ On the afternoon of Friday, October 24, 2025, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, attended the one-year memorial service for H.E. Dr. Chea Chanto.

H.E. Dr. Chea Chanto, who served as the Member of Parliament for Kampong Thom province and as the Honorary Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, passed away on October 25, 2024, at the age of 73 due to illness.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his profound condolences over the immense loss, noting that Dr. Chea Chanto’s passing represents the loss of:

  • A devotedย husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfatherย who exemplified boundless compassion and generosity, providing guidance and education that helped his children and grandchildren become valuable resources for the nation.
  • Anย outstanding senior statesmanย who dedicated his entire life, energy, intellect, and spirit to actively contributing to the nation’s reconstruction and development.

Specifically, Samdech highlighted Dr. Chea Chanto’s significant achievements in governing, reforming, and elevating several key sectors, including socio-economic planning for poverty reduction and investment promotion in Cambodia. Furthermore, the late Excellency played a crucial role in the modernization and stability of Cambodiaโ€™s banking and monetary system up to the present day.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen offered his prayers, dedicating the power of all sacred objects and the virtues of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha to safeguard the soul of H.E. Dr. Chea Chanto, ensuring his peaceful journey to Nirvana.
