"Every Khmer is a Media Platform": Minister Jean-François Tain Calls for Global Digital Mobilization Against Aggression

PHNOM PENH, December 23, 2025 — In a stirring appeal for Cambodia national unity and information warfare, H.E. Jean-François Tain, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister, has called on every Cambodian citizen to become an active “media platform” to defend the nation’s honor against ongoing foreign aggression.

Amidst the intensifying shelling in Poipet and surrounding border zones, Minister Tain urged the Khmer people to seize control of the narrative, emphasizing that Cambodia must no longer wait for others to tell its story.

A Grassroots Movement for Cambodia National Unity and Information Warfare

The Minister’s message, shared across social media, outlines a strategy for digital sovereignty. He encourages citizens to utilize every available tool—Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram—to broadcast the truth of the situation to the world in both Khmer and foreign languages.

The Minister’s “Digital Call to Arms” includes:

  • Tell Our Own Story: Do not wait for foreign media or third parties; Cambodians must be the primary source of truth.
  • Evidence-Based Reporting: Anchor every post in “real, authentic, and undeniable images” to counter disinformation.
  • Win Public Opinion: Stand together as a unified digital front to sway global sentiment and “shake the conscience” of the international community.
  • Courage Over Pity: Communicate with strength and dignity rather than pleading for sympathy.

Declaring the Truth of Territorial Aggression

H.E. Jean-François Tain was explicit in his labeling of the current conflict, urging the public to clearly declare to world leaders that Cambodia’s neighbor has acted as—and continues to be—an aggressor.

“Defend our nation, our national interests, our unity, our honor, our dignity, and the lives of our people,” the Minister stated, framing the digital struggle as a vital component of national defense.

The Power of United Voices

The call for Cambodia national unity and information warfare comes at a critical moment when the “war of narratives” is as important as the physical defense of the border. By transforming every smartphone into a broadcasting station, the Royal Government aims to ensure that the international community cannot look away from the realities on the ground in provinces like Banteay Meanchey and Oddar Meanchey.
