Top Priority: PM Hun Manet Outlines Two Major Tasks in Response to Thai Attacks

Prime Minister Stresses Protecting Citizens and Safeguarding Territorial Integrity; Calls for National Unity

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia โ€“ Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this afternoon addressed the nation, outlining the Royal Government of Cambodiaโ€™s major strategic tasks in direct response to the aggressive attacks launched by Thai forces on Cambodian territory.

The Prime Minister stressed that the governmentโ€™s two foremost and immediate priorities are non-negotiable:

  1. Protecting the people.
  2. Safeguarding the territorial integrity under Cambodia’s sovereignty.

Call for National Unity

In a powerful statement, Prime Minister Hun Manet called for unified action and national solidarity during this challenging period.

โ€œTo all ministries, institutions, authorities at all levels, all branches of the armed forces, and all Cambodian citizens, please stand united for the cause of the nation during this difficult period,โ€ he underlined.

Areas Targeted by Thai Forces

The Prime Ministerโ€™s remarks followed extensive reports from the Ministry of National Defence detailing the severity and breadth of the Thai attacks.

Thai forces have reportedly carried out attacks targeting a wide range of sensitive and civilian areas, including:

  • Military and Historical Sites: An Ses, Tamone Thom Temple, Preah Vihear Temple area, 5 Makara, Chamkar Chek, Mom Bei, Phnom Khmoach, Kaul 8, Ta Krabei Temple, and Khnar Temple.
  • Civilian Villages: Attacks also targeted innocent civilians in Prey Chan and Chouk Chey villages, Oโ€™Beichoan commune, Oโ€™Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province.

The governmentโ€™s immediate focus remains on executing the two core priorities while the security situation continues to evolve.
