Cambodia welcomes its first cruise ship of 2026. The Sirena brought over 600 tourists from the US and Australia to Sihanoukville on New Year's Day.

Sihanoukvilleโ€™s tourism season got off to an exciting start on New Yearโ€™s Day. Just as the massive beach celebrations ended, a luxury cruise ship named the Sirena docked at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

This arrival marks a high note for Cambodiaโ€™s maritime tourism as the country kicks off the new year.

Who Was on Board?

The Marshall Islands-flagged vessel traveled to Cambodia from Vietnam, carrying:

  • 633 Passengers representing 35 different nationalities.
  • 393 Crew Members to manage the ship.
  • Top Nationalities: The majority of visitors were from the United States (269) and Australia (81).

Exploring the Coast

During their one-day stop, the international guests spent time visiting local landmarks, beaches, and various development areas in Sihanoukville. After a full day of sightseeing, the ship departed at 5:00 p.m. to continue its journey to Thailand.

A Strong Start for Tourism

The arrival of the Sirena is part of a growing trend for the province. Just a few days earlier, on December 29, 2025, the Diamond Princess also visited Sihanoukville, bringing nearly 3,000 tourists. These large arrivals signal that Cambodiaโ€™s coast is becoming a top destination for luxury cruise travelers in 2026.
